Feeling home always and everywhere

During our year in Australia we decided to live in a campervan, converted by ourselves.

We bought a Toyota Hiace in Sydney and we spent four months transforming it.

The challenge of enclosing a house in a space of about 8 cubic meters led us to create a configuration adaptable to different daily functions.

We employed recycled materials for insulation and structure, while for claddings and compartments we tried to minimize the costs and weight of the materials, creating the coziest possibile atmosphere.

The van conversion is not only based on its design and construction but also consists in "planning" your future days.

The most challenging part is defining the frequency of your future actions that revolve around vanlife:

a 50L refrigerator, an 80L pantry, a 110L tank, a 20L grey water container, a 4L gas cylinder and a solare panel connected to a 120AH battery allow us to be self-sufficient in electricity terms, to refill the gas every two months, to go to the grocery once a week and refill the water every four days.

The space dedicated to the technique is proportional to the self-sufficiency we wanted to achieve, at the expense of the one available for our belongings.

We applied this formula: self-sufficiency + minimalism = freedom.
